Your point about &quot;the fire in the belly&quot; reinforces what Aristotle said in Poetics about the importance of passion.  He says that the function of any story is &quot;effecting the proper purgation of the emotions” – and therefore, as you suggest here, unless we storytellers are feeling passion, how can we expect our audiences to be interested and engaged?</description>
